Allspice

The popular Caribbean spice is used for more than just seasoning. The dried, aromatic berry of the Pimento tree, serves as a pleasant-tasting digestive aid and as a delightful flavoring agent for bitter medicinal teas and herbal laxatives.


Allspice is native to the West Indies and Central America. Its name is derived from the fact that taste is described as a combination of: Cloves, Juniper Berries, Cinnamon & Pepper! It is most popularly used in cakes, cookies, pickling liquids, stews and
meat dishes. In fact, Allspice is a major ingredient in the spicy Jamaican Jerk seasoning. COMMON NAMES: Allspice, Pimento.
