Chestnut

Both the bark and the leaves of the versatile Chestnut tree have been used in folk medicine. While the leaves were primarily applied for coughs, the bark is a traditional remedy for reducing fevers, among other uses.

In addition to the above mentioned applications, Chestnut Bark was also believed to exert a gentle strengthening effect on the body (tonic), and was listed as being an astringent, or an herb used to tighten tissues, and reduce irritation, secretions and
discharges.
