Dogwood
Once used as a substitute for Peruvian bark, American Dogwood is now used externally as a poultice for wounds, boils and slow-healing ulcers.Most classic herbal references indicate that native American Indians used American Dogwood much like Peruvian bark for fevers and to treat malaria (due to its quinine content). However, it mainly used today for external uses only.COMMON NAMES: Florida Dogwood, False Box, Flowering Cornel, Boxtree. Common use: Ointment or poultice for wounds, boils and ulcers.
