Magnolia

Indigenous to North America, Magnolia is an evergreen tree found in the Atlantic & Gulf coast states. The bark is a bitter tonic said to be beneficial for digestive complaints and to generally strengthen the stomach.


At one time listed in the United States Pharmacopoeia, Magnolia bark is now mainly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is other wise also applied for external purposes or included with other herbs in a formula.
COMMON NAMES: Holly Bay, Swamp Laurel, Swamp Sassafras, Sweet Bay, Sweet Magnolia.




Common use:
Stomach tonic; indigestion; gas; bloating; cigarette addiction.
