Nutmeg
Nutmeg is a tropical evergreen tree indigenous to Indonesia but now cultivated in the West Indies and other tropical areas. While it is commonly used as a spice, it has been used as a folk remedy for indigestion, gas, and other digestive complaints.
This aromatic stimulant is used in small doses to improve the appetite and digestion. In traditional Indian medicine, Nutmeg is indicated for fever, general debility, among other uses. For culinary purposes, this flavorful spice can be added to
spice cakes, cookies, desserts, milk drinks and spice blends.
Common use: Culinary spice; flavoring agent; small doses relieve and prevent intestinal gas, nausea, vomiting and indigestion; loss of appetite; increase circulation. NOT TO BE USED DURING PREGNANCY.
