Orris

Orris is derived from the rhizome of the Iris florentina species, which is found in the Mediterranean but now cultivated in southern Europe. With its delicate violet-like aroma, Fancy Orris is said to be better suited for use in perfume &potpourri blends

While the beautiful flowers adorn gardens, Orris root is highly valued for its pleasant fragrance. It is commonly used as a fixative in potpourri recipes (one perfume &incense-making guide suggested bruising the cut root before adding to your blends). It reportedly blends well with Lavender and Rose. COMMON NAMES: Florentine Orris, Orris root.

Common use: Helps potpourri blends retain their scent.
