Peony

The root of this common garden plant is cited as an old European folk remedy for jaundice, kidney & bladder problems. Today, Peony is noted in contemporary herbal guides as a blood purifier and liver tonic with special benefits for women.

One source suggested Peony root as part of a formula along with Licorice root for menstrual irregularity and hormone imbalance. Elsewhere, the herb is believed to have antispasmodic properties and as such has been employed as a traditional aid for spasms,
including spasmodic nervous conditions.
