Ragwort Life Root

Ragwort is also known as Squaw Weed and Life Root. It was once a well-known folk remedy for female complaints as its other name Female Regulator implies. Classic herb guides list this botanical for excessive and irregular menstruation.

In the past before there were botanical classifications, traditional herbalists and local healers identified plants by their common use in the community. Such was the case with Squaw Weed, so named because at one time American Indians used it to assist
with childbirth. Like all herbs though, Squaw Weed was also used for other conditions. It's been cited as a diuretic, recommended for stones and other urinary complaints. In addition, Squaw Weed was reported to have a mild expectorant action for
relieving coughs and colds- hence its other moniker, Cough Weed.
