Sacred Bark

Cascara's "moving" properties became popular after Native Americans introduced it to the Spanish explorers, who then called it Cascara Sagrada or Sacred Bark. It later entered the realms of mainstream health when it was included in several
over-the-counter laxative formulas. Cascara is currently cited in several European Pharmacopoeias for relief of constipation and stool softener.
