Salep

Salep root is the dried tuber of the early Purple Orchid. The powdered root has long been regarded as a traditional nutritive and strengthening tonic, and as a soothing demulcent for relief of intestinal and other irritations.

Salep root factors in the traditional healing systems of Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia. It's generally consumed as a hot, nutritious beverage -- combined with milk and other spices -- that is particularly enjoyed during the winter. Salep root is also used as a nutritive tonic, similar in use to Arrow root.

Common use: Nutritive, recuperative tonic; intestinal health; occasional heartburn.
