Yerba Santa

Yerba Santa is an aromatic shrub that grows in California, Oregon and parts of Mexico. Native Americans used the leaves to promote respiratory & bronchial health - an application still recommended by modern day herbalists.


Herbal references note that Yerba Santa was smoked, chewed and drunk as a tea by Native Americans for a wide variety of ailments. Its benefits were later appreciated by the Spanish colonists who reportedly named it Yerba Santa or 'Holy Herb'.
COMMON NAMES: Eriodicyton californicum, Eriodictyon, Bear's Weed, Consumptive Weed, Mountain Balm, Yerba Santa.
